LegCon26 Recap
March 19-23rd, Washington
Over the course of several days in Washington, DC, hundreds of student leaders from across the country came together to build something that hasn’t existed at this scale in years: a coordinated, national student movement.
Students participated in hands-on trainings, learned the ins and outs of federal policy, researched and then role played how to meet with elected officials. They marched, rallied, and met directly with members of Congress to advocate for higher education, student rights, and a democracy improved.
Just as importantly, they found each other.
Students from more than 20 states connected across campuses, identities, and issues, many for the first time laying the groundwork for a new era of collective student power. Alumni were part of that too! They joined us in mentoring, speaking, and helping bridge generations of movement history.

What's Next?
Students lobbied against the SAVE Act, for Pell Grant and TRIO funding and to save the Department of Education. But we know that one meeting won't solve our problems- we wish it did. Next student leaders return back to campus to continue their in state lobbying to stop statewide attempts to silence young voters, we get vote ready by preparing our campus to be the most civic friendly it can be and we mobilize for May Day by building coalitions with labor unions and community leaders.
