Students have always been at the center of movements that push this country forward, and elections are no exception.
But for too many students, barriers to voting are growing. From restrictive policies to confusion about registration, ID requirements, and access, the right to vote is not always guaranteed on our campuses.
It Affects US is a national effort led by students, for students, to ensure every campus is vote-ready, every student is informed, and every ballot is protected.
This campaign is about more than participation it’s about power.
We are working to:

Through trainings, toolkits, and real-time legislative updates, we are equipping student leaders with what they need to organize, educate, and mobilize their communities. Because when students vote together, we don’t just participate in democracy, we build it.

The Gen Z Election Defense Toolkit is a nonpartisan resource developed by Protect Democracy to help young people understand, participate in, and protect the electoral process. Designed for students, youth organizers, and emerging leaders, the toolkit provides practical guidance on voter rights, election integrity, combating misinformation, community engagement, campus organizing, and post-election civic participation. It also connects users to legal, advocacy, and rapid-response resources that can help address barriers to voting and democratic participation. The toolkit emphasizes that protecting democracy is an ongoing, generational responsibility and equips Gen Z with the knowledge and tools to strengthen civic engagement before, during, and after elections.
