Starbucks Workers Campaign

Students Against Starbucks (SAS) is a student-led campaign on university and college campuses nationwide in solidarity with Starbucks Workers United baristas, a national union of 11,000 Starbucks baristas who are fighting for a fair union contract.​​

College and university students are one of Starbucks’ key customer demographics supporting their multi-billion dollar business. Studies show that the average college student spends about $63 or more a month on buying coffee. In February 2024, students held a national day of action where they loudly declared “Starbucks Gets an F” for how it treats its workers. Just one week later, SBWU brought the company to the bargaining table – and student organizing played an important role in making that happen. When students speak out, Starbucks listens.

Why should our university get involved in this dispute between workers and the

company?

When colleges serve Starbucks on their campuses, they are endorsing the worst labor rights violator in modern history. Starbucks Workers United has filed more than 1,000 unfair labor practice charges against Starbucks with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
