As a UC Santa Cruz student freshman a part of The Student Union Affaires on campus I play a role in being a Racial Justice Now coordinator, I often hear the refrain:“Getting a UC degree is your ticket. Use your resources. Apply for scholarships.

With the announcement of Trump's Compact for ‘Protecting Higher Education’, it is important to discuss the legislation that preceded it earlier this year. The Advance Ohio Higher Education Act, also known as Senate Bill 1 (SB1), went into effect this summer on June 27 and has been subject to significant criticism since it was first introduced to the House in January. 

For over seven decades, the U.S. Student Association represented millions of students, weathered challenges like CIA infiltration, and championed civil rights and free higher education. Learn how this organization was built in the 1940s and why a new generation is rebuilding it today.
