End student loan interest.

If students have to pay back their loans, they should only repay what they borrowed. The Student Loan Interest Elimination Act would bring federal student loan interest rates down to 0%.

Interest turns education into a lifetime of debt.

Borrowers can make years of payments and still owe nearly as much- or more than they originally borrowed. H.R. 8045 and S. 4149 would stop new interest from accumulating on federal student loans and allow borrowers to focus on paying down the principle.

What the Bill Does

New federal student loans would carry 0% interest rates. Past and future.

Eligible FFEL, Perkins, and other federal loans could be consolidated.

The refinancing process would not include origination fees.

Existing eligible federal loans would stop accumulating interest.

USSA is building the movement to end student loan interest.
